MADRID · SEP–NOV 2026 / BUENOS AIRES · MARCH 2027
AGENT
PAY.

An official MERGE hackathon — where institutions meet crypto & web3.

01 — The opening
Agentic commerce is the next rail. We're funding the proof.

Autonomous AI agents are about to start transacting — with each other and on behalf of humans. The default rail won't be cards. It will be stablecoins on programmable chains: instant, sub-cent, machine-readable, 24/7.

That shift is creating a new category of sponsor — stablecoin issuers, agent-payment infrastructure, L1s — all racing to be the rail of choice.

2M TX
Agent-to-agent transactions in 24h — the new benchmark for autonomous commerce.
$300B
Stablecoin supply in circulation; issuers funding developer adoption.
$15T+
B2B spending will flow through agent exchanges (Gartner forecast).
Introducing
Agent Pay.
The hackathon for the moment AI agents start moving money.

Built on stablecoins. Funded by the rails fighting to power them. Launched in September, announced live at MERGE Madrid, built at a 48-hour hackathon two weeks later, with finalists demoing on the Main Stage of MERGE LatAm Buenos Aires.

The brief
Two tracks. One question: what do agents pay for, and how?
Track A
Agent Commerce

Build an autonomous agent that transacts in the real world — buying services, data, compute or goods — paying in stablecoins, end to end, with no human in the loop.

Track B
Agent Micropayments

Build the rail itself: streaming micropayments between agents — pay-per-API-call, pay-per-token, pay-per-second — at sub-cent cost and machine-speed throughput.

The stack
Four layers. Two ways to plug in.

Sponsors live in one of four layers of the agent-payment stack. Entry from €7,500 plus a single €5,000 contribution to the prize pool (€2,500 for L4). Layer-dependent.

How to plug in
1
Pick a layer

Choose where your product lives in the stack.

2
Pick a mode

L1 co-sponsored · L2 single exclusive · L3 per vertical · L4 by category.

3
Pay entry + pool

€5k–€20k entry + €2.5k–€5k to the prize pool.

4
Recruit builders

The bigger your pool contribution, the more builders pick your stack.

L1
Base Chain

L1 protocols · multichain

€25k · co-sponsored
L2

Stablecoin issuers

€15k · exclusive
L3
Infrastructure

Wallets · agent platforms

€12.5k · per vertical
L4

Cloud · AI · frameworks · security

€7.5k · per category
Base Chain

Where the transactions land. The blockchain that records every agent payment. Builders deploy here; sponsors anchor here.

Multichain · co-sponsored only
Share the layer

Multichain by design: 2–5 chains coexist as co-sponsors. The bigger your prize contribution, the more builders choose your stack.

€20,000 entry + €5,000 pool €25,000 min
Target sponsors · per co-sponsorBSV (returning) · Solana · Base · Polygon · Sui · Aptos · Ethereum
What you get
  • Track-level naming: "powered by [chain]"
  • All builders on your chain → your ecosystem
  • Main Stage moments at Madrid + Buenos Aires
  • Dedicated mentor station on the floor
Currency

The settlement currency. The stablecoins agents actually move — the denomination of every transaction.

Exclusive · one sponsor only
Own the layer

One stablecoin becomes the default settlement currency for the entire cohort — the cleanest commercial position in the deck.

€10,000 entry + €5,000 pool €15,000 min
Target sponsors · single exclusiveCircle (USDC) · PayPal (PYUSD) · AllUnity (EURAU) · SG Forge (EURcv) · Qivalis (TBA)
What you get
  • Default settlement for all builders
  • Branded "Best [Stablecoin] integration" prize
  • Demo Day stage segment in Buenos Aires
  • Direct intros to finalist builders for pilots
Infrastructure

Wallet-as-a-service and agent platforms that builders integrate. Two verticals, sold separately.

Exclusive
Own a vertical

Wallet OR agent platform. Naming, default integration, branded challenge, mentor seat.

Co-sponsored
Share a vertical

SDK integration, co-branded challenge, mentor seat, dev-facing logo.

€7,500 entry + €5,000 pool €12,500 min
Dual-role · Circle = L2 (USDC) + L3 (Developer Platform) · Crossmint = L3 wallet + agent-platform.
Target sponsors · per verticalCrossmint · Privy · Dynamic · Halliday · Skyfire · Circle Developer Platform
Support

Cloud, AI labs, frameworks and security audits — the services builders need to ship and harden their projects.

Co-sponsored only · by category
Compete by category

No single provider covers all the services. Sponsors compete by category — cloud, AI labs, frameworks, audits — bigger grants attract more builders.

€5,000 entry + €2,500 pool €7,500 min
Target sponsors · per categoryAWS · Google Cloud · OVH Cloud · Anthropic · OpenAI · LangChain · LlamaIndex · CertiK · Hacken
What you get

  • Branded "Best use of [Service]" prize
