FAQs
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is social coding event where programmers, designers and developers collaborate to solve a problem and compete for cash prizes. It’s one part party, one part work-your-butt-off overnight battle against the clock and the competition.
Who can participate? Are there any prerequisites or required skills?
Anyone is welcome to participate in this event. While experience coding and programming is a huge plus, teams will also need people with strong presentation skills and brilliant ideas. We also welcome designers, project managers, UX/UI roles...
Can I participate remotely?
No, the event is 100% on-site
Is the event open to all ages?
This event is limited to those 18 and up for participants. Be prepared to show ID to enter.
Do I need a team?
Yes, but it is not required for participating. If you do not have a team there are a few ways to find teammates: You can pick your team from people you already know, post in our telegram group to other members or come to the Team Speed Dating on Saturday morning.
How many people should a Team be?
A team should be 5 people.
Is there anything that I need to prep?
Other than finding fellow brilliant minds with complimentary skills to team up with, there is nothing that you need to prepare in advance.
How much does it cost?
Participating is free.
Where can i find directions to the venue?
The hackathon will take place at Por talento Digital ONCE - Fray Luis de León, 11, Arganzuela, 28012 Madrid.
How can I arrive to the venue from Atocha Station using public transportation?

Walk (fastest & simple) — ~10–12 minutes
Exit Atocha toward Paseo de las Delicias, head south, turn right onto C. de Áncora, then left onto C. de Fray Luis de León. It’s roughly 800–900 m. The nearest metro stop to the venue is Palos de la Frontera, right around the corner.

Metro
If you’re elsewhere in the city: take Line 3 (yellow) to Palos de la Frontera; from there it’s a 3–5 minute walk to No. 11.
Metro Madrid
From Atocha specifically: you can ride Line 1 one stop to Estación del Arte and walk 8–10 minutes to the venue; or simply walk all the way (see #1).

Bus (EMT Madrid)
Several lines connect the Atocha / Delicias area with Palos de la Frontera:
Line 8 (Méndez Álvaro – Palos de la Frontera) — very quick hop between the areas.
Line 247 (Atocha ⇄ Palos de la Frontera) — stops labeled “ATOCHA (2420)” and “METRO PALOS DE LA FRONTERA (2421)”.
Moovit also lists frequent options like 19, 27, 45, 47, 59, 85, 86 serving the immediate streets around the venue.

Taxi / Ride-hailing
Door-to-door from Atocha takes about 4–8 minutes off-peak; typical fare €6–€8.

Driving / Parking
There’s a public car park at Fray Luis de León 11 (Parclick) a short walk from the venue.

Tip: If you prefer zero transfers, walking from Atocha is often the quickest, and Palos de la Frontera is the closest metro stop to the venue.

Where do I park?
Plenty of parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the site on weekends. Also there private parkings close to the venue.
What is the challenge we will hacking to solve?
Details of the business problem will be announced on previous days before the event.
Do I need to take my own computer?
Yes. Computers are not provided to participants.
Do I have to stay the whole time?
Participants can stay overnight to work on an exceptional project, although the decision is up to each participant.
Will there be prizes?
Absolutely. Prizes will be announced during the welcome ceremony, but all participants will get, just for participating, important perks.
Will there be food?
Yes, food and beverages will be provided throughout the weekend.
Is there room to rest?
