Session summary
The origin: building on Chiliz's ecosystem for sport and entertainment (with more than 70 professional teams, according to the talk), the Included Accelerator seeks to engage organizations that see sport as a public good or a human right.
Education and mentorship: the program combines a free, open-source certification on blockchain, sport and social impact (covering themes such as funding mechanisms, crypto philanthropy and community governance) and a one-to-one mentorship “bootcamp” with blockchain experts.
Use cases: according to the talk, the most relevant uses for social sport are community and membership governance, alternative ways to access capital and coordinate funding, and simpler, frictionless payments.
Outcomes: the first cohort gathered 321 professionals from more than 46 countries (according to the talk); six organizations were selected for mentorship, with cases such as a federation moving toward a participatory DAO model, a startup tokenizing footballers (with equal value for women and men) that received funding from Chiliz Labs, and the International Olympic Committee's interest in incorporating these technologies.
What's next: after the English cohort, a Spanish version (15 countries) and a Brazil-focused initiative are rolling out, adding regional experts from the sports ecosystem.
